Database Administrator

TSD is looking to hire a Database Administrator, who will be part of the IT team of a US-based company in the financial industry.

Key Responsibilities

The Database Administrator will collaborate with system administrators and developers and will be responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance, backup/recovery, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems on-premises and in Azure.

Job Role:

  • Work closely with and provide data expertise to developers, business intelligence, and analytics teams

  • Install and administer SQL Server 2008-2019 databases on remotely accessed Windows servers in on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Performance tuning and query optimization

  • Develop, manage, and test database backup & recovery strategies, verifying data integrity

  • Management of databases, schemas, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and declarative integrity constraints

  • Suggest and implement configuration and architectural changes to optimize the performance and reliability of Microsoft SQL systems

  • Proactively monitor production environments and identify performance bottlenecks (execution plans, deadlocks, blockings)

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess most of the following:

  • Excellent understanding of the operation of MS SQL

  • Expertise with table/index design

  • Experience with functions, stored procedures, and queries

  • Knowledge of DB backup, recovery and security principles and best practices

  • Basic PowerShell scripting

  • To have basic idea of database monitoring solutions.

  • Automation skills with restores and data refreshes.

  • Good problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Good to have:

  • Experience with Azure cloud-based databases

  • Experience with TSQL is a plus

  • Experience with SSIS/Data Factory is a plus

  • Experience with ETL

  • Experience with job scheduler tools

  • Good to know but not essential experience with writing, configuring, and troubleshooting SSIS packages
