In the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, The D Las Vegas Hotel & Casino combines a modern-day casino and hotel experience with vintage Las Vegas character. The D organizes and hosts a variety of year-round events, including gaming tournaments, socials, promotions, sports events, and attractions.

Business Challenge

The D’s constant event schedule created an opportunity for software to efficiently organize and track merchandise locations and event-related collateral between their three properties and warehouse. They recognized the need to develop a sports scheduling application to internally communicate upcoming events in addition to transitioning to a cloud identity management solution as they outgrew their local on-premises server.

Solution

TSD provided the D with additional specialists and experienced offshore software developers to strengthen their in-house IT team remotely. The additional specialists leveraged their specialty technical skills and knowledge during the project implementation phases leading to project completion.

We began with developing a mobile application for Android and iOS to scan QR codes and print location and inventory sticker labels. This was developed from the Angular framework with an Azure cloud backend. Ionic’s cross-platform mobile application development, mobile OS plug-ins for cameras and printers, and Azure authentication integration was the solution for tracking merchandise and event-related collateral.

TSD offered the D a practical solution to address their internal communication techniques by implementing an ASP.NET MVC connecting to their internal network. Our experts developed an application allowing users to create, edit, and manage upcoming sporting events on a slideshow page with a simplified user interface.

We created a seamless transition for the D’s growing on-premises database server by incorporating an automated application known as Microsoft Graph. This migrated the company’s entire user authentication and authorization information to the Azure AD B2C cloud database. The cloud identity management solution provided an elevated authentication for web and mobile apps hosted in the cloud including individual accounts, social network accounts, and enterprise accounts.

Results

As a result of TSD’s mobile application developers creating an efficient merchandise and event collateral tracking system, the D has saved significant time and effort in inventory tracking measures. The creation of this has allowed the D’s teams to prioritize a FIFO inventory organization for perishables and other consumables and have general stock levels on hand while avoiding physically searching multiple locations and unnecessary purchasing.

The D now optimizes communication regarding events to team members weekly, monthly, or even yearly with the visual slideshow created by our experts.

TSD created an opportunity for the D to do more than simple authentication and authorization. The implemented user flows allow the newly built application to utilize additional user experiences such as sign-ups, sign-ins, and profile management on a variety of popular platforms.
