Senior Database Administrator

TSD is looking to hire a Senior Database Administrator, who will be part of the IT team of a US-based company in the financial industry.

Role Summary

The Database Administrator will collaborate with system administrators and developers and will be responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance, backup/recovery, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems on-premises and in Azure.

Job Role:

Install and administer SQL Server 2008-2019 databases on remotely accessed Windows servers in on-premises and cloud environments
Work closely with and provide data expertise to developers, business intelligence, and analytics teams
Suggest and implement configuration and architectural changes to optimize the performance and reliability of Microsoft SQL systems
Implement, manage, and optimize an enterprise job scheduling solution
Perform reviews of schemas, stored procedures, and other changes to database DDL
Develop, manage, and test database backup & recovery strategies, verifying data integrity
Establish and maintain standards, policies, configuration guidelines, procedures, and best practices
Initiate corrective action to ensure all database servers meet processing requirements for performance and reliability
Performance tuning and query optimization
Management of databases, schemas, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and declarative integrity constraints
Database security
Create, edit and maintain SSIS packages
Create, test and document custom stored procedures
Proactively monitor production environments and identify performance bottlenecks

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess most of the following:

5+ years as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA (5+ years SQL Server 2012 or higher)
5+ years as a DBA supporting a production environment
5+ years’ experience with advanced database clustering /always-on/ mirroring/replication technologies
5+ years programming experience in SQL including T-SQL
Experience with Azure cloud database design and implementation
Expertise with table/index design
Strong experience with writing, configuring, and troubleshooting SSIS packages
In-depth knowledge related to computer hardware (servers, networks, SAN, RAID devices, I/O subsystems)
Experience with PowerShell scripting
Experience with database monitoring solutions
Automation skills with restores and data refreshes
Resourceful person with good problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a team environment
