Bobby Baychev 10 Years in TSD

This month, we are celebrating the completion of a 10-year working milestone by one of our loyal team members – a self-motivated software developer with rich technical expertise, passionate about experimenting with different technologies and new challenging projects, keen on biking and playing tennis. Happy work anniversary to our colleague Bobby Baychev! We thank him for being an essential part of the TSD family throughout those years.

Find out more about Bobby and his journey of professional peaks and memorable moments in TSD in the following interview.

  1. Bobby, how did your journey with TSD start back in 2012?

TSD’s founder and CEO German Gachevski, and Delyan Mondeshki, EVP & COO at TSD, were looking to hire more .NET developers for the development team of a client, which is a large US-based organization in the finance industry. My technical background at the time was a good fit with the specific job requirements.

2.       Can you make a comparison between then and now? What was your role in the beginning, and where are you at right now?

Initially, I started working on client projects in which I could apply my current development knowledge and skills. With time and experience, I’ve managed to build up vast expertise and started engaging in projects requiring advanced technical skills, already being able to provide valuable business know-how and practical solutions to complex situations.

3.       What are the everyday challenges you face in your work, and what are the fundamental skills or personal qualities needed to deal with those challenges?

To be a successful contributor as a remote team member of a large corporation, one must possess good technical and analytical skills and be able to work independently. Self-initiative and a high level of self-motivation are essential skills along with the ability to quickly get familiar with the work environment and gather additional requirements for the work assignments.

4.       What do you consider your biggest professional achievement?

Setting up a complex Angular project architecture with 90% unit test coverage for a customer.

5.       What is your favorite part about working in TSD? How does your job inspire you?

Definitely, the work environment and the ability to maintain a more balanced professional and personal lifestyle, engage in interesting and challenging projects, learn and experiment with various technologies.

6.       What does it take to become a Senior Application Developer, and what would you advise the guys following your steps?

Experience and desire to learn and work with the latest technology stack. Practice in your free time to be a good internal candidate for the next interesting project that you want to be a part of.

7.       Why do you choose to remain a part of the TSD team after 10 years?

The atmosphere, the great colleagues, and the ability to work remotely and take part in engaging projects have convinced me that TSD is the right place for me.

8.       Share a memory of a funny situation in TSD.

A sprint running challenge between two colleagues: a penguin challenged an ostrich, and the competition ended with quite a funny splash on the ground by the penguin. 😊

9.       Share something personal about yourself. Who is Bobby outside of the office, and what does he like to do for fun?

I am a sports nut and never miss an opportunity to challenge myself either on the bike or on the tennis court. This month, for example, my challenge is to climb over 20,000 meters, and I believe I will beat it by a good margin.

10.   How do you envision yourself in another 10 years?

Enjoying what I will be doing then.
