A decade ago, Martin Koynovski walked into TSD as a young professional, excited to return to his hometown and begin a new chapter in tech. What started as a role in internal support quickly evolved into a position of trust and responsibility. Today, Martin is more than a seasoned System Administrator — he is a quiet force behind the stability of key IT systems, a dependable teammate, and someone who thrives in the balance between autonomy and collaboration.

In this special anniversary interview, Martin reflects on his path at TSD — from his early days navigating new responsibilities to becoming a reliable pillar of the team. He shares what has kept him motivated, the daily challenges he manages, and the values that continue to guide his work ten years later.

Continue below to discover Martin’s perspective on growth, resilience, and long-term commitment.

1. Martin, how did your journey with TSD start back in 2015? Do you remember your first day?

I joined the company ten years ago, and I was really excited about the opportunity to work in the IT field in my hometown, where I had just recently returned. Yes, I do remember my first day! I spent most of it getting to know my colleagues and settling into the office environment. I also went through the onboarding materials and completed a few surveys, which helped me learn more about the company and its culture.

2. What was your role in the beginning, and where are you at right now? Can you make a comparison between then and now?

When I first joined the company, I started as an internal help desk associate at TSD. My main responsibilities, although not limited to, included assisting with support tickets, conducting research, and generally supporting the system administrator.

Shortly after joining, thanks to my sense of responsibility and organizational skills, I was evaluated and given the opportunity to work directly with one of TSD’s clients as a System Administrator — a position I still hold today.

The most significant difference between then and now is the level of experience and expertise I’ve developed over the years. That growth has made me feel much more confident and capable in my role.

3. What are the everyday challenges you face in your work, and what are the fundamental skills or personal qualities needed to deal with those challenges?

Some of the everyday challenges I face include ensuring that the network infrastructure is always running smoothly, responding to system alerts, and managing incidents or unexpected outages. To deal with these challenges, it is essential to balance multiple tasks and deadlines, prioritize effectively, stay organized, and manage time well. Clear communication with both clients and team members is also a key skill, as collaboration is often necessary to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

4. What is your favorite part about working in TSD, and how does your job inspire you?

My favorite part about working at TSD is the freedom I have to organize and manage my own work. The company places a lot of trust in me to prioritize tasks and find the most effective ways to get things done. That level of autonomy helps me stay productive while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance. It is motivating to know that I’m trusted and supported in that way.

5. What is the most important lesson you have learned over the years?

I have learned that flexibility and adaptability, combined with a positive mindset, can turn challenges into opportunities. Being open to change and staying optimistic, even in tough situations, has made a big difference in how I approach my work and grow professionally.

6. What does it take to become a System Administrator, and what would you advise the guys following your steps?

Becoming a System Administrator requires a mix of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of networking and IT infrastructure. It is a role that demands continuous learning, since technology is always evolving. A solid foundation in operating systems, networking protocols, server management, and troubleshooting is essential. For anyone looking to follow a similar path, I’d recommend focusing on building a strong technical base through courses, certifications, and, most importantly, hands-on experience. Whether it’s through internships, labs, or personal projects, practical exposure makes all the difference.

7. Why do you choose to remain a part of the TSD team after 10 years? What has the company offered to you in terms of professional development?

The collaborative environment and the freedom to manage and organize my own work are some of the main reasons why I’ve stayed with TSD for all these years. I’ve always felt trusted and supported, which makes a huge difference in day-to-day motivation. TSD places strong emphasis on continuous learning. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in various training programs and courses that have helped me grow professionally and stay up to date with the latest technologies.

8. Who is Marto outside of the office, and what does he like to do for fun?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially playing with my daughter and going out for walks. I also love catching up with friends and just enjoying good company. Those moments help me recharge and keep a healthy balance in life.

9. What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

What motivates me every morning is the desire to provide for and support my family. Knowing that my work contributes to building a better future for them gives me a strong sense of purpose and drive. It’s what keeps me focused and grounded, no matter what challenges the day brings.

10. How do you envision yourself in another 10 years?

In another 10 years, I hope to have found even greater balance between my work and personal life. I aim for continued professional growth, but just as importantly, I hope to have achieved a strong sense of financial and emotional security for both myself and my family.
